COSMIC MESSAGE
This interstellar dust cloud, the Horsehead Nebula, was sculpted by stellar winds and radiation. It is about 1,500 light-years distant, within the Orion cloud complex. The dark cloud, cataloged as Barnard 33, is visible because its dust is silhouetted against the glowing red emission nebula IC 434. The blue reflection nebula NGC 2023 is also visible on the lower left.
