When Roses Aren't Red

NASA APOD · Jay Ballauer (All About Astro, 3RF)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Rosette Nebula, a star-forming region, often appears red in astronomical images due to hydrogen emission. However, other atoms in the nebula also emit light. This image shows the Rosette Nebula in colors beyond just the dominant red of hydrogen.
