The Sun's light looks yellow to us, but it actually emits nearly every color. This spectrum, captured at the McMath-Pierce Solar Observatory, shows the full range. Dark lines appear where gases on the Sun's surface absorb specific colors. Scientists are still working to understand all the reasons for these missing colors.
