NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
These four images show supernova remnants, the expanding debris from exploded stars, in the Large Magellanic Cloud. They are arranged by their apparent age, from 600 years to 13,000 years since the initial explosion. The first three resulted from a Type Ia explosion, a specific kind of stellar death.
