Planetary nebula NGC 2440 has a bow-tie shape in this view from space. It is made of material shed by a dying, sun-like star as it becomes a white dwarf. The nebula, about 4,000 light-years away, shows complex structures and dense ridges. Its central star is one of the hottest known, with a surface temperature of about 200,000 kelvins.
