Kepler's Supernova Remnant in X-Rays

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Kepler's Supernova Remnant is the aftermath of a stellar explosion first seen in October 1604. Astronomer Johannes Kepler and his contemporaries observed this bright new star in Ophiuchus without telescopes. Today, X-ray images reveal the unusually shaped nebula left behind by that event.
