The Chandra X-ray Observatory captured many bright X-ray sources in the Eagle Nebula, M16. These sources are energetic young stars, overlaid here on the Hubble Space Telescope's optical view of the Pillars of Creation. A blue source near the tip of the large pillar, for example, is a young star four or five times the Sun's mass.
