The Einstein Cross Gravitational Lens
NASA APOD · J. Rhoads
COSMIC MESSAGE
Most galaxies have a single core, but this one appears to have four. The visible foreground galaxy acts as a gravitational lens, bending light from a distant quasar. This phenomenon, called the Einstein Cross, creates four distinct images of the quasar. It is a powerful demonstration of general relativity.
