Asteroid 2006 VV2, an Apollo-class asteroid, passed Earth in late March, coming within 3.4 million kilometers. Because its orbit is close to Earth and it is estimated to be over 1 kilometer in diameter, it is classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid. Telescopes worldwide observed this flyby, which was the closest for a known asteroid of comparable size until 2036. This composite view is from a series of telescopic observations.
