Four Years of Saturn

COSMIC MESSAGE

Saturn and its rings are a memorable sight through a telescope. This month, Saturn is well-placed for viewing in the evening sky, moving between Leo and Cancer. From Earth, the tilt of Saturn's rings changes over time. They were nearly edge-on and invisible in 1995 and 1996, gradually opening to a maximum tilt of about 27 degrees by 2003. This image is part of a series that captures these changes.
