A Red Dome Under the Big Dipper
NASA APOD · M. Colleen Gino
COSMIC MESSAGE
The dome of the Etscorn Observatory in New Mexico glows translucent red under the Big Dipper. This unusual image was created by opening the dome slightly and illuminating its interior with a red light during a long exposure. The open slit allowed the camera to capture the effect as the dome spun.
