COSMIC MESSAGE

The Tarantula Nebula, also known as 30 Doradus, is the largest and most violent star-forming region in our Local Group of galaxies. Located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, it would span half the sky if it were as close as the Orion Nebula. The bright knot of stars to the left of center is R136, a massive star cluster. This region is a mix of glowing gas, supernova remnants, and dark nebulae.
