Arp 87 is a peculiar pair of galaxies joined by a cosmic bridge of stars, gas, and dust stretching over 75,000 light-years. This bridge is evidence of a close pass, where mutual gravity created violent tides. The face-on spiral galaxy, NGC 3808A, shows many young blue star clusters, a result of a burst of star formation caused by the interaction.
