COSMIC MESSAGE
This aurora over North Dakota in 2002 was unexpected, featuring unusual green rays stretching towards the horizon. A rare red band mirrors the green rays above the cities of Bismarck and Mandan. Auroras are caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with Earth's atmosphere.
