NASA APOD · IAC, Daniel Lopez
COSMIC MESSAGE

Bright blue stars are forming in the dark pillars of the Eagle Nebula. This region, also known as M16, is a dramatic example of star formation. This image, taken by a 0.8-meter telescope in the Canary Islands, captures part of the open cluster of stars being created. The detail in the picture comes from imaging only the specific colors of light emitted by hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur.
