Mysterious Acid Haze on Venus

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Why did an acidic haze spread across Venus? ESA's robotic Venus Express spacecraft, orbiting Venus, discovered these unusual clouds last July. The bright, smooth haze was rich in sulfuric acid. It formed when water vapor and sulfur dioxide were lifted from lower levels into Venus's upper atmosphere.
