Phobos: Doomed Moon of Mars
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Phobos is one of Mars's two tiny moons, and it's doomed. This cratered, asteroid-like object was captured in a stunning color image by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Phobos and its sibling, Deimos, may be captured asteroids from the main asteroid belt or even more distant parts of the Solar System. Phobos is slowly spiraling inward and will eventually break apart or crash into Mars.
