COSMIC MESSAGE

This dusty cosmic cloud, nearly 40 light-years across, appears in silhouette against a crowded star field in Scorpius. It is known as a cometary globule, shaped by intense ultraviolet radiation. Clumps of dust and molecular gas within this dark nebula may be collapsing to form new stars.
