Venus Near Inferior Conjunction

NASA APOD · Eddie Guscott
COSMIC MESSAGE

Venus, seen as a slender crescent during daylight hours, was very close to inferior conjunction. This means it was almost directly between Earth and the Sun. At this point, Venus is closest to us and appears largest, but its night side is mostly illuminated, showing only a thin crescent.
