COSMIC MESSAGE
Sharpless 308 is a massive cosmic bubble, about 60 light-years in diameter, blown by fast winds from a hot, massive Wolf-Rayet star. This star, over 20 times the mass of the Sun, is the bright blue one near the nebula's center. The nebula lies some 5,200 light-years away in Canis Major, covering more than two-thirds of a degree in the sky.
