COSMIC MESSAGE
Last Sunday, a young crescent Moon hung low in the western sky after sunset, sharing the twilight with the Pleiades star cluster and Mercury. This serene scene, captured from Selsey, UK, shows the narrow sunlit lunar crescent framed by clouds. The Moon's dim night side is also visible, illuminated by earthshine, a phenomenon where sunlight reflected from Earth lights up the unlit part of the Moon.
