COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 3621 is a spiral galaxy some 22 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra. Its winding arms are full of young stars and dust lanes. Astronomers use its brighter stars as 'standard candles' to measure distances to other galaxies and the overall scale of the universe.
