Yukon Aurora with Star Trails

NASA APOD · Yuichi Takasaka
COSMIC MESSAGE

A camera fixed to a tripod can record star trails as Earth rotates. At high latitudes during March and April, it can also capture an aurora shimmering in the night. The weeks surrounding the equinox, in both spring and fall, offer a favorable season for aurora hunters. This beautiful moonlit vista is from the Yukon.
