These dusty streamers and newborn stars are part of the active Monoceros R2 star-forming region. It's embedded in a giant molecular cloud in the constellation Monoceros. The VISTA survey telescope recorded this scene in near-infrared light. This view reveals signs of ongoing star formation and massive young stars.
