Comet Hartley Passes a Double Star Cluster
NASA APOD · Ivan Eder
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Perseus Double Cluster, NGC 869 and NGC 884, is impressive enough on its own. It's bright enough to see without binoculars, even though it's over 7,000 light-years away. In this image, Comet Hartley 2 passes by these two star clusters. The comet has a greenish coma, making it stand out against the backdrop of stars.
