COSMIC MESSAGE
Every October, Earth passes through a stream of dust left by Comet Halley. We see it as the Orionid meteor shower, with bits of rock vaporizing in the upper atmosphere. This photo captures two bright meteors from that shower, appearing to streak across the constellation Taurus. Comet Halley itself last visited the inner solar system in 1986.
