T Tauri, the prototype of its class of variable stars, sits near the center of this view. Next to it is Hind's Variable Nebula, NGC 1555, a dusty yellow cloud. Both the star and the nebula vary significantly in brightness, though not always at the same time. This region, over 400 light-years away, is at the edge of a molecular cloud.
