This detailed image from the Gemini South Telescope shows the "Southern Cliff," a region of undulating bright ridges and dusty clouds. Newborn stars are embedded in the tips of these bright-rimmed clouds. The false-color composite combines visible and near-infrared data, spanning about 20 light-years.
