Centaurus A, also known as NGC 5128, is the closest active galaxy to Earth, only 11 million light-years away. It spans over 60,000 light-years and was formed by the collision of two normal galaxies. The image, taken from Cerro Tololo, Chile, shows young blue star clusters, pink star-forming regions, and dark dust lanes.
