COSMIC MESSAGE
These three structures are 1.8-meter Auxiliary Telescopes (ATs) at Paranal Observatory in Chile's Atacama Desert. They are designed for interferometry, a technique that combines light from multiple telescopes to achieve extremely high resolution. The ATs work in concert with the observatory's 8-meter Very Large Telescope units. Each AT has a transporter, allowing it to move along tracks for different observational setups.
