A Close Pass of Saturn's Moon Dione
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Cassini spacecraft captured this image during a close pass of Saturn's moon Dione. The photo shows part of Dione's heavily cratered, snow-white surface, along with Saturn's thin rings. Also visible are two smaller moons, Epimetheus and Prometheus, with Epimetheus appearing comparatively dark. Cassini made its closest approach to Dione late in 2011, providing detailed views of the icy moon.
