Planetary nebula PK 164 +31.1 is the remnant of a Sun-like star's atmosphere, expelled as its core hydrogen depleted. The bubble of expanding gas shows intricate shells, likely ejected at different times. Near the center, a hot white dwarf star remains, which is the exposed core of the original star.
