The annual Geminid meteor shower occurs when Earth passes through debris left by asteroid 3200 Phaethon. This composite image, taken from ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile, captures multiple meteors streaking across the sky from their radiant point in the constellation Gemini. In the foreground, the Very Large Telescope (VLT) array is visible.
