COSMIC MESSAGE
On December 12, asteroid 319 Leona cast a shadow across Earth, causing Betelgeuse to dim for observers along a narrow path. This event, an occultation, was captured in Spain from before and during the eclipse. Betelgeuse, a red giant star, faded as the asteroid passed in front of it.
