Darkened City

This image, part of the "Darkened Cities" series, combines a daytime photo of Shanghai's Pudong skyline with a night sky. It imagines what the city would look like if there were no light pollution, revealing bright stars and the central Milky Way. The sky stretches from Antares in Scorpius on the right to Altair in Aquila on the left. The Oriental Pearl Tower, 470 meters tall, is a prominent feature of the cityscape.
