COSMIC MESSAGE

The Porpoise Galaxy, NGC 2936, is a spiral galaxy being distorted by the gravitational pull of the elliptical galaxy NGC 2937 below it. What was once a normal spiral is now being stretched and warped. This close interaction has triggered a burst of young, blue stars, visible in the image.
