Dry Ice Sled Streaks on Mars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

These long, straight grooves on Mars, called linear gullies, appear on sandy slopes during Martian spring. They are nearly constant in width and can extend for kilometers. Scientists hypothesize these are formed by chunks of carbon dioxide ice, or dry ice, sliding down the slopes. This process is being tested on Earth to understand Martian geology.
