Russian meteorological satellite Elektro-L captured this image of Earth from geostationary orbit. Only during an Equinox, twice a year, can the satellite photograph an entire hemisphere bathed in sunlight. At these times, Earth's axis is not tilted towards or away from the Sun, allowing sunlight to reach both poles.
