COSMIC MESSAGE
Catching the November 3rd solar eclipse required precise timing and a unique vantage point: 44,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. A chartered jet, traveling at 500 miles per hour, intercepted the Moon's shadow, which was moving at an astonishing 8,000 miles per hour. This image, taken from the aircraft, shows the moment of totality darkening the skies beyond the wing tip. It was a fleeting glimpse of the Moon's shadow as it raced across the Earth's surface.
