COSMIC MESSAGE

Fantastic shapes lurk in the glowing gas of NGC 6188, about 4,000 light-years away in the southern constellation Ara. Massive, young stars from the Ara OB1 association formed in this region only a few million years ago. Their stellar winds and intense ultraviolet radiation sculpt the dark shapes and power the nebula's glow. This recent star formation was likely triggered by previous generations of stars.
