Venus now appears as Earth's brilliant morning star above the eastern horizon before dawn. On February 26, it rose in a close pairing with an old crescent Moon. From western Africa, the lunar crescent actually occulted Venus, which was also in a crescent phase. This telescopic snapshot captured the two crescents.
