The Moon always shows its familiar nearside to Earth. However, from lunar orbit, the farside becomes familiar. This sharp picture is a mosaic from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter's wide-angle camera, centered on the lunar farside. It is part of a global mosaic of over 15,000 images acquired between November 2009 and February 2011.
