COSMIC MESSAGE

The Cat's Eye Nebula, NGC 6543, is a well-known planetary nebula. This false-color image, made with data from the Nordic Optical Telescope, reveals a faint halo of gas around the brighter central nebula. This halo spans over three light-years. Planetary nebulae are the final stages of sun-like stars.
