How to Identify that Light in the Sky

NASA APOD · HK (The League of Lost Causes)
COSMIC MESSAGE

When you see a light in the sky, a few quick observations can help identify it. If it is moving or blinking, it is often an airplane, especially near a city. If you are far from city lights and it is not moving, it is likely a planet like Venus or Mars. Venus is often the brightest object in the night sky after the Moon.
