The Starry Sky under Hollow Hill

NASA APOD · Phill Round
COSMIC MESSAGE

In New Zealand's Hollow Hill Cave, the ceiling appears like a familiar starry sky. This effect is created by Arachnocampa luminosa, New Zealand glowworms, which are scattered across the cave ceiling. They use this illusion to attract unsuspecting insects, which then get trapped in sticky snares the glowworms create to catch food.
