The Double Dust Disks of HD 95086

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Astronomers use infrared light to study dust disks around other stars, looking for signs of planet formation. Observations from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope and ESA's Herschel Space Observatory found that the planetary system HD 95086 has two such disks. There is a hot disk close to the star and a cooler one farther out.
