COSMIC MESSAGE

The Vela Supernova Remnant is a cloud of debris from a massive star that exploded about 11,000 years ago. This telescopic view, over 10 degrees wide, captures the brightest glowing filaments of the expanding cloud. It sits at the northwestern edge of the constellation Vela, within the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy.
