Comet Lovejoy, named C/2014 Q2, glows green from diatomic carbon gas as it sweeps through the constellation Columba. This comet was discovered in August 2014 and is bright enough to be seen with binoculars. It is on its way to the inner solar system, where the sun's heat will cause it to shed more gas and dust.
