One-Armed Spiral Galaxy NGC 4725

COSMIC MESSAGE

Unlike most spiral galaxies, NGC 4725 has only one spiral arm, seen winding from a prominent ring of bluish, newborn star clusters. This galaxy, over 100,000 light-years across, also features dust lanes and a yellowish central bar of older stars. It lies 41 million light-years away in Coma Berenices.
