The Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is our closest large galactic neighbor, 2.5 million light-years away. NASA's Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array captured this high-energy X-ray view. It reveals about 40 extreme X-ray sources, which are binary star systems containing a black hole or neutron star.
